PAUL SAXTON – PERSONAL HISTORY

Started window cleaning 20 years ago. I knew people who were successful at it, and I wanted to build up a business to manage and not do the physical work. Over 15 years ago I tried selling sponges, blades and scrims along with another individual. I decided that canvassing and selling rounds was more profitable and the other person set up a cleaning supplies and equipment operation which is now one of the leading suppliers of van mounted systems.

About 7 years ago I started using the pole systems, which were supplied by him, as he keeps up to date with the latest developments and technology. This has resulted in me using the Hot Water system, which is superior to the normal cold water method.

Prior to entering into the window cleaning industry I worked in Insurance for 5 yrs. During campaigns I often tripled targets. During this time I developed method of canvassing that nobody else was doing. In my last year(1993) with Pearl Insurance I earned in the region of £100,000

I felt that I could use the expertise gained to work for myself and therefore developed similar methods in the window cleaning industry

I have 2,000 houses currently on my books with 8 people working for me. Over time I have sold approx 4,000 houses since business inception to other window cleaners.

In the last 2 years I have been developing a method of canvassing in high quality houses because of the changes in Health and Safety Regulations.

I can offer a method of building up runs in high value work with very little competition
